Fired Up
No, I do not regret giving my daughter the middle name, “Khaleesi”.
First, “Khaleesi” is a title, not a name (it means “queen” in the imaginary language of Dothraki). As my daughter’s first name is “Katia” (which means “pure” in Russian – a genealogy of which my daughter has as much of as Dothraki), her name means “Pure Queen”.
Second, my daughter isn’t named for a character that is a freedom fighter for the oppressed, but rather for a character that faced a room of oppressive, misogynist, vile men, locked them in, and burned all of it down.
Third, my daughter was born in the year of the dragon – and dragons will always be cool.
So, no, there are no regrets.
Dracarys!!!
